Oh, Just One More Thing...

"If Mr. Libby had only borrowed my raincoat, stood in the shadows of a Washington parking structure, and just told the reporter, "Follow the wife," he'd be the hero of a movie in a couple of years. Instead of a bum, which is what he is, let's face it.

See, this is the problem today's GOP has. No flair for the dramatic. And now, no big book deal in one's dotage.

Of course, the stuff Deep Throat was passing wasn't illegal to pass, at least when one looks at it, and none of it outed U.S. agents in foreign intrigue. All the stuff Deep Throat passed would be covered by the whistle blower statute now.

Nothing in the current investigation would be covered that way -- no one is accused of blowing any whistle on the wrong doing.

That's the difference. Back then high government officials thought it their duty to serve the U.S. first, the president no more than second.
